Travel logs, Stories, Brazilian folklore tales and some guides
My travel logs, inspirational stories and tales have all been gathered here from my trips to Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I have been fooled many times by taxi drivers and will give some hints to help you to not do the same mistakes I have.
I have ended up in the slum-city, also called favela, after a night out at Arcos da Lapa in Rio, something I wouldn’t recommend doing. I have gotten my sandals stolen many times while out surfing and have many hints to what not to do to try and keep them. (As in digging a hole on the beach for them and forgetting where you buried them.)
I’ll tell you stories of Candomble, a religion brought to Brazil with the slave trading from Africa. This religion is known for turning people into zombies and putting curses on people. On the 1.January you will see lots of Brazilians throwing flowers into the sea at Copacabana beach as a tribute to the sea goddess, also a result of African religion. On new years eve million of people gather at Copacabana, with different cloth colours with different meanings. I will tell about my samba experiences, my dancing on the Copacabana new years eve experiences and stories about the samba schools of Rio de Janeiro.
Last but not least, I have a good trick on how to get into the VIP (Very Important Person) areas of discos and clubs, which can be fun to try out.
Following are some tales from my copacabana trips. I’m sure there will be more as I will include experiences you send me about Copacabana.
