A good trip is to walk to Ipanema and on around the great lake of Rio. You can find the Botanical Garden with fauna and flora from the rainforest here. My favourite is the great tree in the middle to get an impression of the sizes which exist in the jungle! From here the train up to Corcovado and the Jesus statue is close and 10 R$ with taxi through the tunnel.
