Copacabana beach bikini and beer guide
So you finally got here! Sencing out the myldering life of Copacabana beach!
This 4 km long strech of fine sand often fills up with thousands of people enjoying the summer from dezember to february.
I guess it’s true what they say about tiny bikinis here at Copacabana beach, allthough it doesn’t look sleasy in any way, but rather charming. Brazilians are very concerned about their health and bodies, maybe because of the warm weather allowing swimsuit wear during great part of the year. This can be seen from the beach line which is geared with training equipement frequented by training brazilians.
Anyway, after walking the wavey beach promenade of Copacabana beach it’s time to find yourself your own little sun umbrilla and a comfertable beach chair, which shouldn’t be very hard. Groups of brazilians at Copacabana beach work renting beach umbrellas, chairs and tables for a very low price.(R$ 3,00 for sun umbrella renting and R$ 2,00 OR 3,00 per chair.) So, you really don’t need to bring anything. Although, some money for a cold beer is recommended, or even a taste of the healthy cold served coconut water ‘Agua de coco’ is worth trying!
Copacabana beach is often divided by the six lifeguard posts as reference points for meeting poeple etc... In front of these posts you find small bars, only waiting to come to your assistanse if you should raise your hand. Ok, so I’m on about beers again, but I found it pretty neat the way the beers were served in heat isolating material keeping it cold for a long time! And if you run out of beer, the brazilian tradition is that you take the bottle out of the container and the beach waiters automatically brings you a new one!
After a long time at Copacabana beach, if you feel tired of relaxing and contemplating the gorgeous landscape, there are many options of sports to be played alone or in groups. Beach volleyball and beach football are one of the most popular ones, there are places to play it in many spots along the beach, but you can choose other sports , such as Frescobol (it’s a game played among 2 people that use a small ball and 2 rackets). Besides Copacabana beach, You can find many private and amazing beaches close to Copacabana, although you might need a car to get to the most remote ones. Prainha is the most beautiful beach I have ever seen, with a jungle green covered mountain all around you and powder white sand to go. It gets even better in my opinion, as it has the best surf waves of Rio de Janeiro!
