Cachaca drinks & tropical coctail recipes!

The most famous of brazilian alcoholic drink recipies, the Caipirinha and other cachaca drinks are starting to spread across the world. Allthough the Caipirinha has a head start there are many delicious mixed drink recipies from Brazil which should be tried!

Of course I will start with one of the cachaca drinks most relevant to this site;

Copacabana recipe

1 3/4 oz Cachaca 3/4 oz Chocolate Syrup 3/4 oz Pineapple Juice 1 1/2 oz Papaya Juice 3/4 oz Cream

Shake well over ice cubes in a shaker, and strain into a large highball glass. Fill with crushed ice, and serve.

Serve in: Highball Glass

Caipirinha, number one of Brazil’s cachaca drinks:

2 fresh limes, grated and squeezed; 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1 cup of cachaca, 1 cup of crushed ice. Combine sugar, grated lime peel and lime juice. Add cachaca and pour into glasses filled with ice

This one is dangerous! The lime kills all taste of the alcohol. But it’s also my favourite! Nothing os like a refreshing caipirinha.

Rabo de Galo (Rooster’s tail):

One of the most popular cachaca drinks. Combine 2/3 cachaca and 1/3 red Cinzano. Ice is optional.

Macada’s Milk:

One of the tropical and sweet cachaca drinks!. Combine 1/3 cachaca, 1/3 coconut milk, 1/3 condensed milk, 1 teaspoon of sugar, and cinnamon. Blend and serve on ice.

Arrestao:

For those of you who like coffee in your cachaca drinks!

1 shot of cachaca, 1 shot of grape juice, 3 canned peaches, 1 spoon of sugar, 1 spoon of instant coffee and 1 spoon of egg whites. Blend and serve on ice.

Balalaika:

3/5 cachaca, 2/5 grape juice, 2 spoons of sugar, 1 spoon of instant coffee, 1 spoon of egg whites. Blend and serve on ice

Alvorada:

2/8 cachaca, 1/8 maracuja (passion fruit) juice, 2/8 orange juice, 1/8 lemon juice, 2/8 condenced milk. Blend and serve on ice.

Royal Bee:

2/3 cachaca, 1/3 Campari, 3 cherries, 1 spoon of honey. Blend, drain and serve on ice.

Spanish:

2/3 cachaca, 2/3 melon juice, 1/6 pineapple juice, 1/6 lemon juice, 1 spoon of sugar. Blend and serve on ice.

Other cachaca drinks which are widespread in Brazil are the batida recipes. They tend to be fruity and a little sweet.

Batida Abacaxi recipe

2 oz Cachaca 4 oz Pineapple chunks 1/2 tsp Granulated Sugar 1 cup Crushed Ice

Place all ingredients into a blender. Blend well, pour into a wine glass, and serve. Serve in: White Wine Glass

Batida Abaci recipe

2 oz Cachaca 4 oz Pineapples 1/2 tsp Granulated Sugar

Blend with 1 cup of ice until smooth and pour into a wine glass. Serve in: White Wine Glass

Batida de Banana recipe

3/4 oz Cachaca 1 1/2 - 2 oz Pineapple Juice 1/4 - 3/4 oz Cream 1 dash Banana Syrup 1/2 Banana

Combine ingredients in a blender. Strain into a large highball glass over crushed ice, and serve.

Serve in: Highball Glass

Batida de Brazil recipe

3/4 oz Batida de Coco 2 3/4 oz Coconut Milk 3/4 oz Cachaca

Pour over crushed ice in a large highball glass. Stir, and serve.

Serve in: Highball Glass

Batida de Carneval recipe

1 oz Orange Juice 2 1/4 oz Mango Juice 3/4 oz Cachaca

Pour over crushed ice in a large highball glass. Stir, and serve.

Serve in: Highball Glass

Batida de Coco recipe

1 part Cachaca 2 parts Coconut Cream

Blend well and add crushed ice. Serve in: Champagne Saucer

Batida de Maracuja recipe

3/4 oz Cachaca 2 oz Pineapple Juice 1/4 oz Lime Syrup 1 dash Lime Juice 1 Passion-fruit chunk

Combine ingredients in a blender. Strain into a large highball glass over crushed ice, and serve.

Serve in: Highball Glass

Batida Mango recipe

2 oz Cachaca 4 oz fresh chopped Mangos 2 tsp Granulated Sugar 1 cup Crushed Ice

Place all ingredients into a blender. Blend well, pour into a wine glass, and serve.

Serve in: White Wine Glass

Batida Morango recipe

2 oz Cachaca 5 very ripe Strawberries 1/2 tsp Granulated Sugar 1 cup Crushed Ice

Place all ingredients into a blender. Blend well, pour into a wine glass, and serve.

Serve in: White Wine Glass

Batidas Frozen recipe

2 oz Cachaca 2 oz Tropical-fruit Puree 1 oz sweetened Condensed Milk 1 oz Simple Syrup

Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into an old-fashioned glass. Garnish with a lime wheel, and serve.

Serve in: Old-Fashioned Glass

Colada Brazil recipe

1 1/2 oz Cachaca 3/4 oz White Rum 2 oz Pineapple Juice 3/4 oz Coconut Cream 3/4 oz Cream

Blend ingredients together with crushed ice in a shaker or blender. Pour into a large highball glass over crushed ice, and serve.

Serve in: Highball Glass

Lambada recipe

4 cl Cachaca 4 cl Cream of Coconut 2 cl Cream 10 cl Cherry Juice

Shake all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Pour over crushed ice in a fancy glass.

Serve in: Hurricane Glass

Nightboat to Brazil recipe

1 1/2 oz Cachaca 1/2 oz Cointreau 1/2 oz Lime Juice 1/2 oz Batida de Coco

Shake with ice. Strain.

Serve in: Cocktail Glass

Nightboat to Recife recipe

1 1/2 oz Cachaca 1/2 oz Triple Sec 1/2 oz Lime Juice 1/2 oz Batida de Coco

Shake with ice and pour into a tumbler with crushed ice.

Serve in: Old-Fashioned Glass

Woody Woodpecker recipe

4 cl Cachaca 15 cl Orange Juice 1 cl Galliano

Shake cachaca and juice with ice, and pour into a collins glass. Add galliano, and serve.

Serve in: Collins Glass

Zico recipe

1 oz Cachaca 1 oz White Rum 2 oz Papaya Juice 3/4 oz Coconut Cream 1/4 oz Lime Juice

Shake well over crushed ice in a shaker, and strain into a large highball glass over crushed ice. Serve.

Serve in: Highball Glass
